Junkers

Junkers was founded in 1930 when Flemming Junker started a sawmill in order to cut 40,000 beech railway sleepers for the Danish state railway. The contract was fulfilled but Junker had to find other ways to dispense of the residual wood. This was the beginning of the Junkers Beech parquet board.

Junkers provide a range of 100% solid hardwood floors. These include ash, Merbau, sycamore, oak, Jatoba and their unique press dried beech. Most of these woods are available in the unique Junkers two strip and a single plank format.

Junkers also produce a range of oak, walnut and ash engineered boards. These are available in a plank or three strip and feature Junkers laylock system.

All Junkers flooring have been tested and can be laid onto both electric and water under floor heating systems, this includes their solid range. Either by installing onto the Junkers batten system with the under floor heating running between or by using Junkers unique clip system, laid directly onto a screed.

22 mm Solid Hardwood Floors

Strengths and long term durability
Strength and long term durability are the key characteristics of Junckers 22 mm Solid Hardwood Floors. The flooring is produced to withstand the wear and tear of a busy household or the high traffic areas found in commercial environments, whilst still being able to match a wide variety of designs and settings. The purpose developed surface treatment - lacquer or oil – will add to the character of the floor as well as providing exceptional wear resistance.

Each board is produced by joining two rows of staves with a glued double dovetail joint along the centre of each board and with tongue and groove joints at the ends. This ensures the strength of the finished board and results in a parquet pattern on the installed floor.

Residential/ Commercial
Junckers 22 mm Solid Hardwood Floors can be laid with the unique Junckers Clip System, they can also be nailed directly on to joists or battens as a load-bearing installation as well as being fixed directly to a levelled wooden subfloor. The Junckers 22 mm Clip System offers a very fast and straightforward method of installation, ensures good walking comfort and footstep-noise properties but requires only a building height (total depth of system) of 24 to 25 mm.

The Junckers 22 mm Batten System ensures very comfortable walking due to the built-in resilience of the system. It requires a building height from 60-70 mm, and can be carried out by professionals or semi-professionals.

Sport
Junckers 22 mm Solid Hardwood Floors can be installed in sports halls and gyms by utilising one of Junckers sports floor systems. The different systems include low elevation floating floors, a high quality portable floor as well as area elastic systems consisting of a subconstruction with built-in, controlled resilience, shock absorption. All have the appropriate friction characteristics of the prefinished surface and meet a variety of international performance standards. Build heights start from a minimum of 27 mm.

Junckers 22 mm Solid Hardwood Flooring is available as a specifically developed Squash Floor version.

Junckers for Homes
Natural materials are appreciated more and more in the home by helping to create a healthy environment adding to the overall benefit and comfort of the family.

Solid hardwood floors from Junckers provide a smooth, hygienic base free from static electricity and allergens. Their ease of cleaning reduces tiresome housework as the surface does not harbour dirt or dust. Junckers boards are the only solid, pre-finished hardwood floors worldwide to be approved by the British Allergy Foundation.

Installation in Homes
The complete Junckers flooring range is suitable for installation in most areas of the home – either as a single room floor finish or in larger, multiple room installations.

Choosing between the different thicknesses depends on the need for load-bearing strength, the type of installation method, lifetime requirements and limitations in building heights. Junkers parquet boards are pre-finished and are supplied with a lacquer or oil finish – in 22 mm and 14 mm thickness. (These can also be supplied untreated). Junckers 20.5 mm thick wide boards are available oiled or untreated. Lacquered and oiled boards can both be used in residential installations.
